Bharti Mehta: A Seasoned Content Professional Helping Brands Create Innovative Video Content

Bharti Mehta
Founder & CEO, Content Studio

The advent of so many OTTs in the last four to five years has been possible because of the immense content producing capacity this country possesses. From education to entertainment, India has stepped up to show the world its potential in content creation.  In the near future, Indian Content will break the internet into several beautiful pieces.

India is full of stories and people who want to tell those stories. Indian Video Content therefore has the potential to change the perspective of how people look at India. Working towards the same with its creative video content is Gurugram-based, Content Studio. It is a one stop solution to all your creative needs. Content Studio is a brainchild of Bharti Mehta, a leader who with every move, tries to instill the value of a happy client & partner.

In an exclusive interview with Women Entrepreneur, Bharti shines light on her experiences that led her to Content Studio.

Take us through your early educational journey and prior industry experience that helped you build content studio.

As a child and teenager, my days were spent in the boarding schools of Himachal. Those days, taught me the art of organization and the skills to work independently. Though it was difficult initially, when I retrospect, I realize that everything then, helped me become the person I am today. No matter how difficult today may look, if you live through it, you will become better and stronger than you were before that experience. I try to instill that same learning among my team members at Content Studio.

I started my career in the content business. While I was working at Digivive (one of India's first OTT platforms) as a content aggregator and producer, I understood the need for good content in India. I also realized that there was scarcity of premium spaces where creators and companies could shoot their content. So, being from the land of Gandhi `we became the change we wanted to see in the world' and started building Content Studio.

What are the various responsibilities you shoulder as the founder & ceo of content studio?

I work with a team of young people and that means we have a lot to learn. My role is to guide them through this subtle yet intense learning process, giving them ample time to learn from their own mistakes, and at the same time diligently taking care of our clients.

Creative work can sometimes take more time than anticipated, so keeping close tabs on those timelines and ensuring the delivery of the best product in the given time frame also falls under my purview.

In your opinion, what is the most significant milestones that you have achieved? Also, tell us about the driving force that keeps you going.

Growing up, I was not a risk taker. I would pack my bags a week before the journey to ensure I don't forget anything. However, when I started Content Studio, that changed. While working unprecedented hours towards the unforeseen problems while building my own production house changed my perception of risk taking completely. This, in my opinion is one of the significant milestones that has molded me as a better leader. Now, I sincerely feel that if you have an aversion towards risk taking then you are training yourself for the ideal situations.

"If you have a kind heart that understands the problems of clients and employees at a basic human level, then you have the potential to be a good leader"

The biggest driving force is the desire to help the passionate youngsters who are a little direction less (as they are young) but full of untapped potential that even they can't see yet. If I help someone, anyone understand and realize their potential then that would be the biggest victory for me. Content Studio is a place for people with hunger and desire to achieve and succeed.

What would be your advice to young women and girls who also aspire to become leaders and entrepreneurs in the future?

At least now the world knows that there is nothing that women can't do. One of the most successful CEOs in India right now is a Woman (Nykaa). So, I don't need to tell today's young women that nothing is impossible, they already know that nothing is impossible.

If you have a kind heart that understands the problems of clients and employees at a basic human level, then you have the potential to be a good leader. Leadership is not about barking orders and keeping account of who followed those orders to what extent, it's more about enabling people to improve themselves every day and instilling the aptitude of growing and learning from their mistakes. Making mistakes means you are trying, so don't think too much, especially when things are not going as expected. Just work towards your goal, give your best every day because that's the only thing under your control and focus on creating opportunities, not just for yourself but for everyone around you.
