Indian origin Lawyer, Sweena Pannu appointed as the US New Superior Court Judge

One of the 27 new superior justices chosen by California Governor Gavin Newsom is the Indian-American attorney Sweena Pannu. Democratic Sweena Pannu will fill the vacancy created by Judge Thomas D. Zeff's retirement from the Stanislaus County Superior Court.
The governor's office issued a news release stating that each of these 27 positions will be paid $231,174 annually. At the Stanislaus County Counsel's Office since 2020, Sweena has worked as a deputy county counsel.
From 2006 until 2020, she even served as a deputy public defender at the Stanislaus County Public Defender's Office. She completed her undergraduate studies at Punjab University before earning her master's degree from the University of Aberdeen School of Law. From 1996 until 2004, she worked as an attorney at ML SARIN.
