On Wednesday, Dr. G Krishnapriya took on the leadership duties of the Trichy district as its chief education officer (CEO). In the most recent CEO reorganization, she was moved from Kallakurichi district to Trichy. She is taking over for M Sivakumar, who has been appointed as Chennai's deputy director of elementary education (law).
Trichy district's education department has earlier launched a 'Mission Delta' initiative to enhance language and arithmetic skills among students in classes VI to IX in Trichy corporation, government, aided, and private schools. Trichy, classified as a low-performing district in 2017 by the National Achievement Survey (NAS), has launched this initiative to improve fundamental skills through Mission Delta, involving school headmasters, teachers, and resource personnel to identify and address difficulties that students face with language and arithmetic skills and offer special training.
M Sivakumar, former CEO of Trichy has planned to monitor training at school, block, and district levels to improve literacy and numeracy skills while he was in charge. Monthly reports were also collected along with the training throughout the academic year.
Within a school district, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) is in charge of organizing and supervising all educational initiatives and programs. This entails creating, putting into practice, and assessing curriculum in addition to managing professional learning and staff development initiatives. The CEO is also in charge of making sure that state and federal laws are followed by the district's educational initiatives.
