The Infosys Science Foundation (ISF) announced the winners of the Infosys Prize 2024 in six categories: Economics, Engineering and Computer Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences. This year, the prize focused on early-career researchers under the age of 40, recognizing their immense potential towards a changing work.
Two remarkable Indian female researchers along with 6 individuals received prestigious prizes, including:
Neena Gupta, Professor, Theoretical Statistics and Mathematics Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata for her Zariski Cancellation Problem in algebraic geometry in Mathematical Sciences.
Vedika Khemani, Associate Professor, Physics Department, Stanford University for her groundbreaking research on non-equilibrium quantum matter, including the discovery of time-crystals, which could influence future quantum technologies in Physical Sciences.
The other 4 winners are,
Arun Chandrasekhar, Professor, Department of Economics, Stanford University in Economics.
Shyam Gallokota, Professor, School of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Washington in Engineering and Computer Science.
Mahmood Kooria, Lecturer, School of History, Classics and Archaeology, University of Edinburgh in Humanities and Social Sciences.
