Janki Vasant: Empowering Children To Be The Changemakers Of The Future
Janki Vasant
Co-Founder, Playtos Global Education
In order to empower themselves, children need to have the access to an environment where they can discover who they are, where they not only have a plethora of answers but also find the right questions to ask. With this philosophy & concept in mind, Janki Vasant co-founded Playtos Global Education. She is leading this futuristic platform to explore opportunities to transform the future generation, thus playing a vital role in nation-building. Janki is a social entrepreneur who has worked with the underprivileged sector & municipal schools for most of her life with a focus on education for the underprivileged. Playtos Miniversity, a beyond school for kids is again a unique initiative taken by her to prepare the generation next to be future-ready. The concept of Playtos is inspired by Plato- the Greek philosopher, and his Socratic dialogue. Playtos' approach is storytelling and through it helping children learn about life, leadership, and entrepreneurial skills. Over the years, Playtos has successfully enabled children to walk out of the campus with three primary takeaways: Skills, Knowledge, and Attitude. With the concept of `play while you learn, learn while you play,' Janki is building a community of resilient, curious, explorers, thinkers, doers, and changemakers. Let's hear it from her.
Tell us about the underlying idea behind the venture and some of its most unique features.
Playtos is a Miniversity for children; beyond school, along with their schooling. Here we believe, education is not about taking kids' minds and filling them with information and ideas, but bringing them close enough to the subject, getting them to observe closely for them to thoroughly understand it, develop love & appreciation for it to be able to digest it, analyze it & apply it in their life. Every single child in the world has a purpose and a destiny. Our job is to help students find out what that might be, what makes them feel truly alive, and how they can use that passion to enrich their own lives and the lives of those around them. One of our priorities is to make sure that each student leaves our program with an open mind that encourages them to form standpoints but also be willing to revise those ideas and adapt to change and transitions.
Tell us about the three significant pillars of your futuristic program.
Inspired by Plato, Playtos is a movement from darkness to light, from ignorance to knowledge, and from fear to gratefulness. Our futuristic program is based on three simple words, `What', `How', and `Why'.
"Inspired by plato, playtos is a movement from darkness to light, from ignorance to knowledge, and from fear to gratefulness"
What- children to have the skills, knowledge & mindset to be entrepreneurs, and leaders, take on the business world; be successful financially & also be grounded enough to enjoy the nuances life has to offer.
How- this is where our storytellers, educators & counselors come in. Through our central method of Socratic dialogue, stimulating discussions, stories, games, role plays, and immersive retreats the inner transformation happens. Flipped classrooms allow children to take in information at their own time and pace & engage with the Playtos community through weekends to ideate, explore & learn.
Why- the children of the privileged have the privilege of abundance which could make them lose focus. Here they learn to celebrate the ability to choose to imbibe a sense of gratitude for all they already have not got lost in abundance, focus on whom they become and not what they get.
What are your primary focus areas in terms of leading the organization? Playtos is a bridge between a child's formal school education & experiential learning; it shifts from content to experience; from knowledge to skills, from teaching to learning; from graduating to being a lifelong learner. Playtos is the art of empowering your own story to create a masterpiece from your life, in the process one learns about skills like creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, communication skills, innovation, and emotional intelligence. We do a deep dive to strengthen values such as curiosity, resilience, empathy, integrity, gratitude & more. Business is one of the pillars of Playtos. It's about giving them the understanding that business and entrepreneurship are about noticing a problem and proposing a solution. One of the most important things that we focus on is empathy. It means attempting to understand another person's life so that we can all do our small part to change things.
