In an exclusive interview with us, Priyanka opened up about the struggles and how she managed it all while running a business

Tell us about your early education, prior industry experience, and the motivation behind founding Skyreach Overseas Career.

After completing my B.Com from Calcutta University, I embarked on a journey to explore my passion for travel and tourism by pursuing a master's degree in the field. However, my roles as a wife and mother soon took precedence, and I had to prioritize my responsibilities and adhere to certain boundaries. When my daughter grew up, I decided to do something for myself and joined an immigration forum in 2016. This exposed me to different countries, their criteria, and immigration processes, which fascinated me as I had always been passionate about tourism and helping people. I conducted extensive research on different countries, their skill sets, and demands to understand where I could best assist people. After working with a company for two years and freelancing, fueled by my entrepreneurial spirit, I took a leap of faith and decided to start my own venture, giving birth to Skyreach Overseas Careers. In October 2021, I officially registered my company as Sky Reach Overseas Solutions, a trading name for my business.

As the CEO of Skyreach Overseas Careers shed light on your responsibilities and current focus areas for driving company growth.

As the CEO of Skyreach Overseas Careers, I am responsible for overseeing various facets of the company's operations. This encompasses providing guidance and mentorship to our team in handling business and skilled work visa applications, managing relationships with vendors, conducting thorough document reviews, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the company. With my extensive six-year experience in assisting clients with immigration, citizenship, visitor, and seasonal visa processes, I ensure that all procedures are carried out efficiently and in compliance with legal requirements. Moreover, I provide oversight to dedicated teams in IT, HR, and other departments, who directly report to me. Managing funds and overseeing the overall performance of the company, including immigration documentation and relocation processes, are also part of my key responsibilities.

What major challenges did you face as a business leader and how did you overcome them to ensure your company's success?

As a firm believer in equality, I don't see the industry as gender-biased anymore. I don't consider myself a feminist, but rather someone who acknowledges that everyone has their own unique challenges and journey. I take inspiration from successful businesses owned by women, like Nyka and the 20,000 fashion brands run by women entrepreneurs. I don't believe in making excuses or blaming my gender for any failures. I take full responsibility for my actions and work passionately towards my goals. I enjoy what I do and stay focused on my vision. I've had positive interactions with men in my work, and I appreciate their successes as well. Today, there are countless women entrepreneurs who are making waves in various industries. Gender is not a hindrance to success, and I remain committed to breaking down stereotypes and achieving my own goals with determination and passion.

Can you please share your guiding principles or philosophy that has helped you achieve success in your endeavors?

My mantra for success has been to create global Indians by encouraging education, business, and cultural exchange. I believe in that if we send people outside to study they learn to share knowledge with students of other countries and bring back their experience of knowledge sharing to our country. Through education, business ventures, and the exchange of ideas, we can foster economic growth and development within our own country. It's not just about sending people abroad, but also encouraging them to come back and make a positive impact on our economy and society.

Based on your own experiences, what guidance would you offer to women who aspire to be leaders and entrepreneurs?

My advice to aspiring women leaders and entrepreneurs would be to have an unwavering belief in themselves. They should be open to experimenting with new ideas and pursuits, as we all have unique talents and strengths within us. If one avenue doesn't work out, don't be discouraged, but rather try something else. The key is to identify what resonates with you and focus on that as you move forward in your journey.
