Women's Bike Taxi introduced by Chennai Metro Rail

On Thursday, the first women-driven bike taxi service in Chennai, with women captains will be exclusively available for metro train travelers. It was inaugurated in order to empower women and ensure safe and secure last-mile connectivity.
The initiative was driven by Rajesh Chaturvedi the Director (Systems and Operations) of Chennai Metro at Nandanam.
A total of fifty female bike and taxi captains will be available at specific Metro Stations as an initiative by Chennai Metro and Rapido. This initiative also includes the Government Estate, Teynampet, Saidapet, Thousand Lights, and Egmore.
Depending upon the demand of the passengers, the services will be provided later in all the Metro Stations. The aim of this initiative is to generate employment opportunities while giving Metro users, especially women, a dependable mode of transportation.
This initiative will provide convenience and safety to rail passengers. This will go a long way in promoting sustainability in transportation and enhancing the travel experience for metro travelers, particularly women.
The event was launched with the Assistant General Manager (Rolling Stock), S. Satheesh Prabhu, representatives of Rapido, and other top officials of Metro.
