Women-led Edtech Startup Spark Studio raises Seed round from Better Capita

Spark Studio, a Bengaluru-based extracurricular edtech startup, has received its first round of funding from Better Capital.
The company would invest in building a strong team and developing a cutting-edge technology platform in order to provide a superior experience and produce a best-in-class curriculum and content.
Spark Studio claims to offer more than 15 extracurricular courses in three different categories: music, communications, and visual arts. Hundreds of children from India, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and the United Kingdom are currently enrolled in their classes.
“Extracurricular learning is an unstructured and fragmented market. Parents typically rely on teachers in their hyperlocal communities. This is logistically difficult for parents, and usually not pedagogically sound, and in the current environment, less safe. We have a razor-sharp focus on building a top-notch learning experience, and going deeper in a few categories,” says, Anushree Goenka, Co-founder, and CEO, Spark Studio.
Anushree Goenka, ex-AVP, Business Strategy, Swiggy, and IIM Ahmedabad alumnus; Kaustubh Khade, ex-AVP Product, BYJU'S, and IIT Delhi alumnus; and Namita Goel, ex-Director of Curriculum Development, LEAD School, formed Spark Studio in October 2020. The founding team has more than 15 years of combined expertise in education and edtech.
she is an experienced business leader, with deep expertise in business strategy, digital consumer experiences, P&L management, revenue, and growth.
In her previous role as AVP, Business Strategy at Swiggy, she led consumer retention and monetization charters (pricing, AOV maximization) as well as medium-long term business planning. Most of her work is centered around decisions balancing growth and unit economics.
Prior to this, she was the head of revenue and operations at Scroll, a digital media start-up with over 10 million monthly readers. Omindyar Network is a supporter of Scroll. As the CEO's deputy, she oversaw finance and investor relations as well as served as a product chief for a number of revenue-related product offerings.
Vaibhav Domkundwar of Better Capital, an early backer of breakout companies including Open, Rupeek, Kutumb, Airmeet, Teachmint, Skill Lync, and others says “Spark Studio is addressing a very large global problem of access to high-quality extracurricular learning that is closed-loop, measurable, and comes with a clear roadmap for children and parents. Anushree, Namita, and Kaustubh have not only got the core right, but they are also one of the highest quality teams in the space.”
