Kickstart FC began their Indian Women's League (IWL) campaign with a 3-1 victory over debutants PIFA SC here on Friday.
Kickstart was kept at bay by PIFA SC, who opened the game deep in the defence.
The Karnataka-based team produced numerous opportunities while keeping Anjali occupied at the PIFA station.
The deadlock was ultimately broken in the 23rd minute when defender Nirmal Devi scored a screamer from roughly 40 yards or more. In the 33rd minute, Kickstart forward Parameswari Irom doubled the lead.
But the jubilation was short-lived, as PIFA pulled one back in the next move, all within the same minute.
After receiving an inch-perfect cross from the right-wing, PIFA forward Nissilia put it in the back of the net. Following that, the game became more open as both teams proceeded to produce numerous chances.
After returning from the halftime break, Kickstart appeared to be in a better mood as they continued to press for another goal. In the midfield, PIFA SC lost too many balls, making it easy for their opponents.
Kaviya secured the deal around the hour mark. Nirmala threw the ball into the box, and Kavya pounced after PIFA goalkeeper Anjali fumbled.
Dular Marandi scored the first hat-trick of the tournament as SSB Women rallied from behind to defeat Hans Women FC 6-2 at the 7th Battalion Ground in another encounter on the opening day.
