In order to break the social boundaries and be more focused on health and fitness, more than 6,000 women have participated in a long run carrying different sarees.
The Khashaba Jadhav Krida Sankul in Pune University was filled with beautiful colors as women from all over the region gathered there on the morning of 16 April to take part in a 3 km Saree run.
As per the organizer, a huge number of women belonging to various organizations like Pinchi took part in this run.
Among these participants, the woman who made history in January this year was honored during the event. Mrunal Inamdar, a nauvari saree runner has made her name by becoming the first woman to attempt bungee jumping while wearing a nauvari. While addressing the participants, she stated that it is really important to understand that women of all ages should take care of their physical and mental health.
There were a number of renowned guests present who flagged off the event. The race Director of Taneira Saree Run, Pramod Deshpande said that women perform a number of significant responsibilities in everyone's lives and they are the most essential member of any family's health and fitness. But while performing so many duties and tasks somehow they miss looking after their health. They encounter such obstacles to pursuing fitness, this is the reason that this race was executed wearing a saree. Saree is the most essential component of Indian women's culture and it also Unites women of India across any caste, creed, or religion.
Taneira Saree collaborated with the fitness company of Bangalore, JJActive which hosts this saree run for the past seven years in Bangalore. This is the first time that Pune has hosted this run. This event will take place in five more cities this year.
