Queen Elizabeth II, the monarch of Britain with the longest reign, passed away on Thursday in Bellmore, England. The statement from the Royal Family claims that the queen passed away peacefully after suffering from her illness for a quite some time. All of the world's leaders sent tributes and condolences shortly after the news came, and they continue to do so today. In her position as a queen, Queen Elizabeth II travelled to every country in the world during her more than six decades on the British throne. Her formal trips to India, though, have been the most noteworthy of all of them. She visited a number of well-known locations throughout her tour, including the beautiful Taj Mahal, the Golden Temple, Jaipur, and Mumbai's Gateway of India.
Here is a brief look at Queen Elizabeth II's visits to India before she departed for her heavenly dwelling.
The late Queen Elizabeth travelled to India three times—in 1961, 1983, and 1997—alongside her husband and the late Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh.
She made history by being the first British monarch to travel to India in 50 years following the visit of her grandparents, King George V and Queen Mary, in 1911.
The first Prime Minister of India received Queen Elizabeth II.
On January 21, 1961, when the late Queen landed in India for the second time, President Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Vice President Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, and Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru met them at the airport.
The Queen attended the Republic Day procession as a special guest.
In 1961, the Republic Day parade's Guest of Honor was Queen Elizabeth II. She can be seen walking alongside former Indian President Dr. Rajendra Prasad in pictures.
She also spoke to a sizable crowd at a gathering held in 1961 at Ramlila Ground to welcome the royal couple, which was hosted by the then-prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

The Queen and her husband Prince Edward travelled to Jaipur, where they received a customary Indian welcome. The Queen rode an elephant close to the City Palace with the Maharaja of Jaipur at the time, Sawai Man Singh II.
Indira Gandhi and Queen Elizabeth met.
Following their visit in 1961, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip returned to India in 1983 and 1997, the year the country celebrated its 50th anniversary of independence.
Additionally, Her Majesty the Queen had a meeting with Indira Gandhi in 1983 in New Delhi. As the Queen was wearing an elegant dress and Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was wearing a saree, they both looked stunning.
