Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Odhisa and President of the BJD urged party MPs on Tuesday to raise the issue about the Women's Reservation Bill in the monsoon session of Parliament as well as the issue of providing the state special status.
The Parliament's Monsoon session will be held from 20 July 2023. CM Naveen instructed the party MPs of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha to mention the 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and assemblies as he presided over the BJD's parliamentary party meeting in virtual mode.
In addition to this, CM Naveen Patnaik stated about the ignorance of Odhisa to be given special focus status by the party's MPs. According to the BJD leader in the Lok Sabha Pinaki Mishra, the demand should be brought up in both Houses of the Parliament.
Pinaki Mishra also argued that Odisha should be provided as a special focus state because it is the only state in the nation to have experienced the effects of cyclones, floods, and droughts. He also stated that the MPs were unable to bring up the mentioned issue due to the improper functioning of the Parliament due to a number of problems.
In addition to this, he even mentioned the attempts made by the BJD MPs to meet with the Union Minister to address the specific projects and how they were blocked by the BJP MPs. CM Naveen Patnaik heard about the struggles and expressed concern towards the MPs. The state government has been making every effort to develop a number of sectors, including agriculture, health, and education.
