KIA India has celebrated the success of rural women who completed their tailoring program, aiming to empower women and foster sustainable development in rural communities. The firm has recently held a valedictory ceremony for those women participants as a part of their CSR initiatives. The event was attended by Mr. Kabdong, KIA India Chief Administrative Officer. The program provided women with essential skills in tailoring and garment making, enabling them to start their businesses or secure employment in the garment industry.
The tailoring training program was held for 90 days and comprised 75 rural women. They were offered essential tailoring skills to take over sustainable livelihoods and make contributions to their families and society's welfare. The initiative was held in a joint effort with Timbaktu Collective that provided each trainee with a stipend of Rs. 21,000 during the period. KIA India allocated around Rs 40 lakhs to establish the training center ensuring proper equipment, materials, and a conducive environment. The ceremony awarded certificates, sewing kits, and machines to women who completed a training program and provided loan sanctions for starting tailoring businesses. Kia India supports these initiatives, aiming for a positive impact.
The program's success has had a ripple effect on the community, inspiring more women to pursue similar opportunities. KIA India plans to expand the program to reach more rural women and align it with sustainable development goals. Many graduates have already started earning a steady income, contributing to their families' financial stability.
