Flipkart Empowers Rural Women Entrepreneurs with E-Commerce Workshop

To empower women and rural ornament makers and artisans, India’s largest e-commerce company, Flipkart with NRLM organized a dynamic orientation programme. The occasion that had the distinguished guests including Smt. Such a program wherein speakers included Savitri Thakur, Hon. Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Shri Priyank Mishra, Collector of Dhar, and Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Flipkart Group, will go a long way in boosting the digital literacy of rural women business owners.
The main objective of the workshop was to ensure that more than a hundred rural women, self-help groups, and local artisans we are working with gather key information and knowledge on how to take their businesses online using the Flipkart marketplace. The idea was to equip these women with new sources of employment and income-generating activities by eliminating the divide between their local markets and the national market.
Savitri Thakur further echoed on the benefits of the workshop and how the learning acquired empowered the rural women artisans and self-help groups to unlock new growth opportunities and support the local economy, “Speaking about the Flipkart e-commerce insights the rationality of which was provided in the comprehensive workshop was brilliant and enabled the rural woman artisans and self-help groups to dynamically advance their entrepreneurial skills.”
Rajneesh Kumar of Flipkart emphasized the company’s current extents its dedication to rural entrepreneurs commenting, “More than 1. 8 million plus lives have been transformed across India by relying on Flipkart with opportunities for artisans especially the woman entrepreneurs; with our program called Samarth we are aimed to empower the rural talents with the tools, knowledge, and market access requisite for them to thrive in e-commerce arena.
Flipkart Samarth was launched across India in 2019 to expand digital adoption for MSMEs, artisans, and other various disadvantaged communities who need e-commerce connectivity. The program aims to support Indigenous communities across India by providing a digital platform to boost earning potential and economic well-being.
