The Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's (FICCI FLO) Amritsar branch, an all-India forum for women, launched social outreach programmes for the sixth year, launching a number of projects with an emphasis on health and women's empowerment.
The chairman of FICCI FLO in Amritsar, Himani Arora, discussed the organization's mission and made a list of projects that would be undertaken. The creation of a gender-inclusive counselling cell in association with a legal help centre and the Punjab Police is prominent among these. "We are collaborating with the Punjab Police to set up a counselling cell that is just for women in the region we are adopting.”
This joint initiative seeks to offer counselling sessions to both men and women who have experienced domestic and online violence. Khushion Ka Bagh will be the name of the cell. The counselling cell would provide a secure setting for victims to talk about their experiences and get advice from qualified experts, said Himani.
She continued by saying that her goal for the year was to provide women with the means for independence as well as greater access to healthcare and education. For this, the organisation has joined up with Zomato and VLCC in order to support women in establishing profitable enterprises, train a group of women, and help them become financially independent.
The FLO branch will also introduce "Legal Lifeline," which will give women who might not be aware of their rights legal help and education. According to Himani, "Legal Lifeline will provide free professional legal counselling to needy women and provide direction and assistance to women who want access to justice."
Also, the organisation is introducing "Finding Balance," a mental health series centred on self-care and recovery, as well as FLO Gen-Z, a mentorship programme designed to ignite young minds. Nowadays, one of the most crucial challenges is mental health, according to Dr. Simarpreet Sandhu, senior vice-chair of the FICCI FLO in Amritsar.
