Amandeep Drall bounced back with one of the greatest rounds of the season in the final round, firing eight birdies against just one bogey for a magnificent seven-under 65 at the Chandigarh Golf Club greens on Friday to win the 10th leg of the Hero Women's Pro Golf Tour by three strokes.
Despite a magnificent four-under 68, amateur Avani Prashanth, who had shared the overnight lead with Amandeep after two rounds, was left three strokes behind. She came in second place. Vani Kapoor finished fourth with a one-over 73, while Jahanvi Bakshi was third with a 68.
Amandeep shot a nine-under 207 to win her first title in 2021, while Avani shot a six-under 210 and Jahanvi shot a four-under 212. Vani recorded a one-under 215 total, which was also below par.
Amandeep, who had benefited greatly from competing in Europe in recent months, had began the week with a 4-under 68 before sliding to a 74 on the second day.
In the final round, she was two strokes back after bogeying the first hole, while her playing partner and overnight co-leader, Avani, birdied the same hole.
Amandeep quickly regained her form, birdieing the second, fourth, sixth, and seventh holes to finish at 3-under 33. Avani missed a putt on fourth, leaving Amandeep with a two-shot lead.
This gave Amandeep an advantage of one. Avani, like Amandeep, birdied the sixth and seventh holes but was still one back at the turn.
Amandeep took off on her own on the back nine, making three birdies in a row from the 11th to the 13th, while Avani only made advances on the 13th. Both players birdied the 16th, but with two holes remaining and three strokes in hand, Amandeep made no mistakes, while Avani couldn't find any more birdies.
The victory also solidified Amandeep's position atop the Hero Order of Merit, which she already held.
