Air Force Officer Manisha Padhi becomes Country's First Female ADC

Manisha Padhi, an Odisha-born Air Force officer, recently made history in India by becoming the country's first female Aide-de-camp (ADC). Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, the governor of Mizoram, appointed Squadron Leader Manisha Padhi, on Wednesday, 29 November 2023, when she formally began her position. She will assist the Governor personally as an ADC and take part in ceremonial duties.
Manisha, an officer in the Indian Air Force, was appointed as the first female ADC in the history of the Indian Armed Forces in 2015.
Dr. Hari said, "Manisha's appointment is not only a significant achievement but also proof of the ability of women to oppose gender stereotypes and succeed in a variety of professions. The Governor further mentioned, "Let's celebrate this incredible accomplishment and keep advocating for women's empowerment in all domains."
After her official appointment, Manisha reported to the Governor and was made acquainted with the officers and staff of the Raj Bhavan in Mizoram. Air Force Stations Bidar, Pune, and Bhatinda were the previous three locations to which she was assigned.
Manisha hails from Berhampur and completed her education at C.V. Raman College of Engineering in Bhubaneshwar.
An Aide-de-camp is a personal assistant or secretary to a high-ranking person, usually a senior military, police, or government officer, or a royal family member or head of state. They wear an aiguillette, and a gold braided cord, and participate in ceremonial functions.
