AICFB hosts 12th IBCA World Junior and Women Chess Championship for Blind

The All India Chess Federation for the Blind (AICFB) is set to host the 12th edition of the IBCA World Junior and World Women Championships for the Blind in Bengaluru, India. This marks the first time the event has been held outside Europe, and India is the first Asian country to host it. The historic event will be organized from 27 September 2024 to 7 October 2024 at the Chancery Pavilion Hotel, Bengaluru. This thrilling tournament will feature 32 players from various countries including the USA, Sweden, Poland, and Ukraine.
The event will feature over 150 delegates from 37 countries, including past world champions, international masters, and FIDE-rated players. The championship aims to promote inclusivity, raise awareness about blind chess, and inspire future players. Sponsors will contribute to a well-organized tournament, fostering global connections and sportsmanship among participants.
National Award winner for the Best Disabled Employee and AICFB President of the All India Chess Federation for the Blind, Charudatta Jhadhav showed excitement and mentioned, "It is our honor to host this event, where we not only celebrate the exceptional talents of players with visual impairments but also strengthen the chess community around the world. We look forward to some sensational games and personal stories the next few days will bring." He has created 'Talk64, a speech-enabled chess software specifically designed for chatting, and Radio Chess, the world's first dedicated Internet radio for Chess for the Blind.
The 12th IBCA World Junior and Women Chess Championship for the Blind will feature talented women players from India and around the world, including Megha Chakraborty, Tijan Gawar, Shobha Lokhande, and Ayisha Sainab. These players will showcase their skills and compete for top honors.
