Rangina Hamidi, former Afghan education minister, will be a prominent speaker at the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS), which begins on November 21, 2023. The two-day summit, a hallmark event for the Bengal government, intends to take inspiration from Hamidi's illustrious life and work, which transcends national lines.
The 45-year-old US citizen, who is now teaching at Arizona State University's business department, will share stories of perseverance and daring, with a specific emphasis on supporting women entrepreneurs. Following the Taliban takeover of Kabul on August 15, 2021, Rangina committed herself to the education and empowerment of Afghan women.
Rangina built a comprehensive value-chain model for an all-women's social company in Kandahar, with products reaching worldwide markets, among her many accomplishments. Her personal and professional life stories demonstrate amazing tenacity in the face of hardship, making her a great option to encourage entrepreneurial spirits.
Rangina, who was born in Kandahar in 1978, spent his early years in Pakistan's Quetta under the Soviet rule before returning to Afghanistan in 2003. Her father, Kandahar's previous mayor, was assassinated by the Taliban in 2011.
Despite the difficulties of working in a hostile environment, Rangina was dedicated to development initiatives, education, and women's rights until her departure in 2021. Her attendance at the BGBS underlines the summit's dedication to cultivating a global perspective and learning from remarkable individuals such as Hamidi.
