76 women won recent elections in five states: Rajya Sabha government

The Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday that 760 women contested in the recently held assembly elections in five states, with 76 of them winning.
Uttar Pradesh voters elected 47 women to the state's newly formed legislative assembly. There were a total of 561 women who voted in the polls.
Law Minister Kiren Rijiju also shared data on the total number of candidates who contested polls in Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Manipur, Punjab, and Uttarakhand, the number of women contestants, and the number of women who won in a written response on women reservation in Parliament and legislative assemblies. There were 6,944 candidates in the five states, including 760 women, according to the data. Seventy-six of them came out on top in the polls.
In Goa, 26 of the 301 contestants were female. Three of them were elected to the assembly's 40-member body. Similarly, 17 of the 265 contestants in Manipur were women. The electoral battle was won by five people. Women voters outnumbered men in the assembly elections, which were held in seven phases between February 10 and March 7.
According to Election Commission data, women outnumbered men in Goa, Uttarakhand, and several constituencies in Uttar Pradesh.
