6 Females chosen by EU Chief Ursula von der Leyen for Top Roles in her Team

European Union chief Ursula von der Leyen has put women in the top leadership roles in her new team for her next 5-year tenure at the bloc’s head in the organisation even after having numerous EU member’s unwillingness.

Ursula von der has taken a move towards gender parity by putting a total of 6 women in the eight top positions in her team. Ursula von as EU Chief and Kaja Kallas as foreign policy, with a mutual agreement, have approved on by government leaders.

She added a Spanish Socialist Teresa Ribero to lead the green transition while also putting Ribero as the antitrust czar along with 3 other women as Commission vice presidents. The Commission team appointments is yet to get decided as it deviates for the right after June elections’ surge of far right parties.

Ursula von der stated, “So I worked with the member states and we were able to improve the balance to 40 per cent women and 60 per cent men. And it shows that – as much as we have achieved – there is still so much more work to do. The importance of Italy is reflected in the portfolio and the executive vice president. And I think the balance is also very well kept.”
