Leaders must Pull Up their Socks to Deal with Recession in Europe
By: Rachita Sharma, Managing Editor | Thursday, 20 July 2023
The past couple of years have been a curve ball for the global economy. Starting from the global pandemic to the Russia- Ukraine war, global events in the recent past have brought with them major challenges for industries across the globe.
The European region has been at the receiving end of the hardships brought by aforementioned events which has caused the European economy to contractslightly at the end of last year and beginning of 2023. This was a direct impact of the loss of Russian natural gas and high inflation on consumer spending.
Based on data by the European Union’s statistics agency Eurostat, among the 20 nations that use the euro currency economic output dropped 0.1 percent in the final three months of 2022 and first three months of 2023 as compared to previous quarters.
This resulted in two consecutive quarters of decline which has led to a recession. The times are tough and the need of the hour is for governments and industries to pull up their socks to beat the recession lest it snowball into a deeper problem.
In the midst of tough challenges, it is the business leaders who have been working hard to run organizations successfully. The current edition of Women Entrepreneur magazine shines the spotlight on women leaders of Indian origin who have been the catalyst of growth and development.
