India’s startup ecosystem has grown from strength to strength to emerge as one of the largest startup hubs of the world. Although Bangalore has always been the top choice for startups and entrepreneurs in the country, yet other cities are catching up to this trend as well.
Regional governments have woken up to the growth and prosperity that can be brought about by a vibrant startup hub. Telangana government has been one of the most proactive government bodies to double down on this trend.
The city of Nizams is getting a tech makeover. Hyderabad is gradually gaining a new reputation for itself: as a haven for new-age startups and businesses.
The Capital city of Telangana (formed in 2014), Hyderabad has shown immense potential to become another hub for start-ups alongside existing startup hubs such as Bangalore, Delhi, and Mumbai. The city over the past few years has indicated a promising growth in terms of having a stable environment for startups and businesses because of its co-operation with investors, academia and the government.
In 2015, the Telangana government established T-Hub (Technology Hub) in Hyderabad. It is an innovation hub and ecosystem enabler that leads India’s pioneering innovation ecosystem and is the world’s largest innovation campus.
Additionally, the city is also big on empowering women entrepreneurs. Hyderabad became the first city in the country to be home to India’s first 100% women-owned 'FLO Industrial Park'. The Park has paved the way for female entrepreneurs to run and operate their business from this park. In another step, WE Hub launched a new pilot, an incubator for women entrepreneurs from textile design and/or manufacturing in Telangana.
Steps such as these are testament to Hyderabad’s aim to create a thriving startup ecosystem that is also inclusive and gives women equal opportunities.
