9 JUNE2022Medi Akanksha, a programme aimed to assist women who have taken a professional sabbatical for a variety of reasons, was recently launched by Medi Assist. The Medi Akanksha initiative attempts to eliminate the stigma and prejudice associated with women who take a professional hiatus by encouraging them to pursue a second job. The organisation was just recognised as the `Best Organization for Women 2022' by a major industry award. Medi Assist is working to make the workplace more gender-balanced by providing equal opportunity to both men and women. The company now has a 42 percent female workforce, with the intention of increasing this over the following few quarters.Medi Akanksha's goal is to tap into the enormous potential and competence of women professionals who have left the workforce for a variety of reasons. For women, taking a break from work has been a big professional setback. Returning to work can be challenging, especially if there are concerns about lost talents, a lack of competency sharpening, or a perceived lack of upskilling. Through this project, Medi Assist intends to provide opportunities and support for women to re-enter the workforce and resume their corporate positions. In order to prepare potential employees for career 2.0, structured onboarding, focused mentoring, flexible work options, and on-the-job learning are all critical components."We are quite proud of what we have accomplished here at Medi Assist to assist women in achieving their career goals and breaking down barriers! Our goal is to create an environment that encourages and helps women resume their careers. Women who are looking for a second chance in the workforce can send their profiles to us at mailto:talent@mediassist.in. A lot of thought has gone into this program. When we initially pitched this to the leaders, there was no difference in opinion or apprehension; we were fully supported to drive this. Medi Assist is an organization that supports women all through and has taken yet another leap to come forward with this program", said Anitha Manikantan, Head of People Practice - Medi Assist.Medi Assist is a significant player in the InsurTech and HealthTech space as well as the health benefits administrator of choice for some of the country's largest corporations.
