Importance of Scientific Temperament for Indian Youth, Especially Women

Scientific temperament is crucial for youth, especially women, since it encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity—skills necessary for leadership in science and technology on a global scale. In a world that is changing quickly, people can challenge prejudices, tear down barriers, and make significant contributions to STEM areas by adopting a logical, evidence-based approach.

Early exposure to STEM education is essential for young women to develop a scientific attitude. In addition to encouraging practical experimentation and fostering mentorship programs where seasoned experts mentor young scientists and engineers, educational institutions and business leaders must establish inclusive learning environments. They will be further empowered by having access to research opportunities, industrial partnerships, and scholarships. Furthermore, visibility is important since seeing female leaders in STEM fields.

By fostering a scientific mindset, Indian youth, especially women, can lead a progressive and empowered life, ultimately contributing to a more logical and practically developed society. India can unlock its full potential and create a more prosperous and equitable future.

Your STEM Inspiration

Growing up, I was inclined towards STEM, but my inspiration came from women trailblazers in science and technology who defied norms and made groundbreaking contributions. I had a liking towards Dr. Kalpana Chawla, whose journey from India to NASA symbolized limitless possibilities, a woman can have broken all the barriers, and the second inspiration I had from Dr. Tessy Thomas, India’s ‘Missile Woman,’ who proved that women could lead in defense technology, were incredibly motivating.

Beyond well-known figures, I also drew inspiration from mentors, educators, and colleagues who encouraged me to explore, question, and innovate. Throughout my career, their guidance reinforced my belief that STEM. For me, this is not just a career path but a means to be part of Resolution for the real-world challenges and create impact.  Also, I feel proud seeing women excel in diverse fields—from space exploration to AI and renewable energy—reaffirmed my commitment to breaking barriers and inspiring the next generation of women in STEM.
