Indian cinema's association with Cannes began back in 1946 when the film "Neecha Nagar" directed by Chetan Anand won the highest prestigious award, Palme d'Or. Over the years, renowned filmmakers of India including Satyajit Ray, Mira Nair, Mrinal Sen, and Shyam Benegal have presented their works on this platform.

Iconic Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who is widely popular for her films and acting skills globally began the trend of walking the Red Carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. She appeared for the first time in 2002 creating a significant impact and grabbing global attention for Indian Cinema. Aishwarya walked off the red carpet for the screening of her film "Devdas", directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

A renowned face of the Cannes Film Festival, she is the first Bollywood actress to make an appearance at a famous event. This year Aishwarya wore a shimmering green midi dress with cape sleeves with a flowy silhouette which was an opulent hooded gown. She completed her look by pairing it with high heels and minimal accessories, and a soft glam look that she completed with. Her flowy silhouette dress also had a corset-like structure with a black bow and floor-sweeping train being the highlight.

Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma made her debut at the Cannes Film Festival this year by carrying an off-shoulder gown in a gorgeous cream hue. It was a bodycon silhouette dress. She completed her elegant look with a minimal sleek bun. Next, she wore a pastel-pink balloon top paired with black sequined pants. Her second look was completed with hand accessories and ear-cuffs made designed of diamonds with dewy makeup to finish off.

Sunny Leone

The Indian Diva made her appearance wearing a flowy high-slit wine-red velvet pastel gown at the Red Carpet for her new film ‘Kennedy’ with director Anurag Kashyap and actor Rahul Bhatt. She is famous for her roles in Ragini MMS 2, Jism 2, Leela, and several other blockbusters movies.

Esha rocked the red carpet in a satin white gown with a risqué slit. The gown had detailing of 3D florals around the high collar. Next, she appeared on the red carpet carrying a black bodycon dress with a cinched waistline. The sequinned outfit was carried off with smokey eyes and a wavy hairdo.

Mouni Roy

It was her first Cannes Red Carpet Indian Diva Mouni Roy walked through donning a sunshine yellow gown with a big bow on the back. She also carried a fitted bodice dress with a plunging neckline. Mrunal Thakur

Mrunal aced this year's Cannes Film Festival by making her debut. She made her appearance with a signature saree look and also a white cut-out gown. The saree had some mesmerizing details of crystals, beadwork, and feathers attached. Her final look was a white cut-out gown that had ruffle detailing with a train flare.

Sara Ali Khan

Sara Ali Khan made her first appearance at Cannes wearing an ivory lehenga, with a matching blouse and a long dupatta to complete the look.
