What motivated you to establish My Beautiful Home? Tell us about the underlying idea behind the venture and some of its most unique features.

The idea to establish our entity in the interior designing space blossomed when my husband, Satish, who is also a partner in my firm and I was looking for interior designers to design our own home back in 2011. During the course, we witnessed the lack of proficient interior designers offering personalized & customized design that matches our style & sensibility. This led us to explore many places within as well as outside Bengaluru and allowed us to gain a lot of essential knowledge about the sector. Putting the extensive experience to the right use, we decided to open our own interior designing firm and named it My Beautiful Home.

My Beautiful Home offers extremely personalized designs and every single aspect of our project is dealt with utmost care and detail. We also pride ourselves in relationships that we share with our clients, which goes a long way in understanding the needs & desires, and at the same time having into consideration the aesthetics and functionality.

As the Founder, what are the different roles that you have to play within the organization? Also, what are your current focus areas in terms of taking the company’s growth forward?

As a founder, one has to shoulder many responsibilities, especially in the early years of inception in terms of setting up the office, building a team, and playing the role of an HR by nurturing the team to bring it up to the level. It’s a multifaceted role; handling the marketing, sales, and finance, and also being the role model to the employees simultaneously. Even today, these roles continue to be my focus areas concurrently playing the role of the lead designer in every huge project. We have been successfully growing in the past eight years and are constantly scaling up designing both residential and commercial projects. The core of our growth strategies remains the same; designing every house differently, unlike the design industry which has penetrated the modular market. We want to keep our differentiating designs as the soul of the company.

Bengaluru has been known as a haven for entrepreneurs. How did the city influence your entrepreneurial journey?

Bengaluru is indeed a city full of dreams, homes, and opportunities. It is a land of startups and there are so many leaders in the interior designing space itself. While architectural businesses are venturing into Interior Design: though it is penetrating the design and décor market, I still feel that it is creating opportunities for healthy competition. Compared to other metro cities, people here understand the art of designing better and at the same time affordability in this city is increasing, people are willing to build spacious homes, which definitely gives us an opportunity to grow.

Drawing from your experience as a business leader, what would your advice be to young women who aspire to become entrepreneurs in the future?

When aspirants venture into an entrepreneurial journey, they must understand that they have to be ready for every kind of work and mold themselves accordingly. To be able to direct themselves toward the demands of the industry, they must empower themselves every day, gear up to face challenges, and prepare themselves to be at the forefront of every business activity. Also, they have to be enterprising and open to learning new skills every day; constant learning will allow them to stay humble which will help them in the long run.

Shruti is an accomplished business leader with a demonstrated history of working in the finance and design industry with a Post Graduate Diploma focused on Business Administration from the Graduate School of Business and Administration. Prior to being an entrepreneur, she has been the Marketing Associate at Kalaari Capital, a Venture Capital firm that she believes has been a huge influencer in her entrepreneurial journey.
