I hold a post-graduate degree in Human Resource Management, a bachelor's degree in science, and a diploma in Software Engineering. With a rich history spanning 23 years in engineering services organizations, I have played a pivotal role in steering their growth and championing people-centric initiatives. This journey includes notable roles in a French multinational corporation in India, where I spearheaded the implementation of their growth strategy, focusing on enhancing technical competence at the India center for global operations. Additionally, I've had the privilege of overseeing post-acquisition integration for key mergers and acquisitions, with a particular emphasis on driving digitalization initiatives to automate resource management, enhance productivity and efficiency metrics, and optimize talent acquisition and employee lifecycle management processes.

Tell us about the key business lessons you have learnt over the years in the industry. What are your key areas of expertise as a business leader?

Reflecting on my extensive experience in the industry, I've garnered valuable business insights that have shaped my approach as a business leader. One fundamental lesson is the importance of intimately understanding your customers. This involves cultivating continuous relationships across all levels, ensuring a deep connection with their needs and preferences.

Another key learning revolves around identifying the synergy between customer requirements and the organization's capabilities. Creating an ecosystem that is not only dynamic and sustainable but also adds substantial value to both the organization and its customers is crucial for long-term success.

In the ever-evolving landscape of business, staying attuned to technological advancements is imperative. Taking the time to comprehend how technology is reshaping the business scenario allows for strategic preparedness, ensuring adaptability to changes in the market.

Elaborate on the diverse responsibilities you undertake in your role as the Senior Vice President within the company.

In my capacity as the Senior Vice President, I have been entrusted with several key responsibilities. Since 2021, I have been actively driving the growth strategy as the Regional Head in a Profit and Loss (P&L) role for the Bangalore Regional Business Unit (RBU). Notably, in April 2023, I was promoted and assumed additional responsibilities for the Hyderabad office. My role involves engaging with major Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) clients such as Mercedes Benz, Bosch, GE, Siemens Gamesa, and others, ensuring robust client relationships.

Furthermore, a crucial aspect of my responsibilities revolves around the strategic development of execution teams. I focus on scaling up our Digital, Embedded, and Mechanical Lines of Business (LOBs) delivery teams in the Bangalore office, aligning their efforts to effectively support client projects. Additionally, I hold administrative responsibilities for the Bangalore office, overseeing its efficient functioning. This multifaceted role allows me to contribute significantly to Onward Technologies' continued success and expansion in the dynamic landscape of digital and ER&D services.

In your perspective, what are some of the most formidable challenges you face in your current role of steering the growth strategy for Onward Technologies? How do you navigate these obstacles?

Given the nature of the services industry, managing people emerges as the most influential yet challenging factor. I've observed that it's not only crucial to harbor a vision but also essential to instill belief in that vision among the team to transform it into reality. Particularly, starting from scratch during the challenging times of the Covid pandemic posed a significant hurdle, especially in a region like Bangalore where engineers have abundant choices. Building and retaining a team presented numerous challenges due to factors such as increasing demand, expectations for swift results, an impatient young workforce, and rapid technological advancements. Effectively conveying the broader picture and illustrating how each team member contributes to that vision played a pivotal role in sustaining the team's belief in our objectives. Assigning challenging roles to individuals who might have felt lost in larger organizations proved instrumental in assembling the best possible team.

Tell us about the most significant milestones you have achieved throughout your professional journey so far?

Throughout my 23-year professional journey, several significant milestones have shaped my career. Embracing agility and humility has been a consistent theme, adapting to the unique demands of each organization I've been a part of. Driving company strategy and advancing the people agenda on a global scale stands out as a noteworthy achievement, reflecting my commitment to fostering growth and development.

Participating in an international global management program with UTD/Boston Consulting marked a pivotal moment, introducing me to diverse perspectives from business professionals worldwide. Another notable milestone was successfully transitioning from a professional support role to a business role, demonstrating adaptability and a keen ability to navigate career shifts.

One of the most enriching experiences in my journey was steering the growth strategy for an Engineering Research and Development (ER&D) global organization. This accomplishment not only showcased my leadership abilities but also contributed significantly to the organization's overall success.

What guiding principles or leadership philosophy have shaped your success as a business leader?

Embrace the willingness to take risks with the ultimate goals in sight. Approach challenges as opportunities for growth. Consistently invest efforts in assembling and nurturing an exceptional team. Avoid complacency and continuously challenge yourself, fostering personal growth along the way.
