Take us through the prior industry experience that you bring to the table.
I am a Chartered Accountant by education, a training that I owe all my success to, because that’s where the foundation of being meticulous, factual, and disciplined in everything I did was laid. I spent my initial career working in Finance function for several MNCs. I took a sabbatical during my maternity leave, and was offered an opportunity for hiring CA professionals.
Being a CA myself, I could relate to the underlying stress experienced by recently qualified Chartered Accountants and the pressure they felt during placements. That’s when I decided to help fellow professionals in earning a perspective and looking at the larger picture. I took up the project and delivered successfully.
While working on this, I also got a chance to explore thehiring process from HR managers’ perspective, and that’s how my transformation as HR consultant commenced. I have never looked back after that since after that brief stint 10 years ago, I started working as a full-time Recruitment consultant and was associated with a couple of renowned and established HR consulting firms.
I have been privileged to have worked with several industry stalwarts and I am grateful to every one of them in helping me shape my learning curve. In the last couple of years, with hard work, dedication, and my passion towards HR recruitment I have developed strong connections with corporates and professionals. My strength lies in my unbiased approach towards either side of the table. My social media presence is proof that recruiters and prospects alike have appreciated my versatility and people skills. Hireex Consultants is my successful venture which has grown by leaps and bounds in the last 12 months and established itself as one of the most trusted hiring specialists in the post-pandemic era.
Tell us about the underlying idea behind the foundation and some of its most unique features.
We all have been witness to the COVID-19 pandemic and how it triggered a large number of layoffs, closures and other forms of redundancy. Not just from the employer side, the pandemic hit industries across the globe in the form of mass resignations, demand for better work-life balance, hybrid or completely work-from-home culture, when employers request employees to return to work but they couldn’t or didn’t want to. All these have been unprecedented changes that created a massive demand and supply gap in the employment market, putting immense pressure on the entire recruitment industry.
When I launched Hireex Consultants in 2021, my mission was to help place right talent at the right place and at the right time. Being a successful senior corporate professional and mother myself, the idea of helping women professionals find a second, third or fourth innings of their career has always been close to my heart. With Hireex, I am determined to achieve my objective of helping women professionals find their right balance of career and family.
Hireex Consultants is a team of passionate women professionals, and we have given an opportunity to work remotely to all of us Our all women team is always ready to lend a helping hand, and we do not charge corporates for placing women professionals. We have also synced up with various platforms which offer affordable upskilling and training opportunities to young professionals or returning mothers so they could achieve their professional goals.

What are some of the most pressing challenges that you encountered as a business leader?
I realized early on that to be heard in a world which has always leaned towards men, women entrepreneurs have to battle with several biases and prejudices. The biggest challenge is convincing people that you mean business as much as any of your male counterparts, and demand to be taken seriously. The long-standing mindset that women are not capable of taking senior leadership positions. So as a woman fighting to place another woman professional in a leadership role, I have had my share of battles that I have won in the end.
Not just people and society, there are several economical, political and natural factors that keep disrupting the global economy as a whole, and these have direct or indirect impact on hirings too.
We face these challenges every day in the form of candidates backing out/ turning down offers, or employers putting positions on hold after we have done all the groundwork.
But I have also realized that with perseverance and resilience, we can rise and shine despite the odds stacked against us, and this is what motivates me and my team to take every challenge head on.
Drawing from your experience as a business leader, what would your advice be to young women and girls who also aspire to become business leaders and entrepreneurs in the future?
I would like to say to every young woman and girl out there, don’t be afraid of following your dreams. Before the world starts believing in you, you have to believe in yourself. Don’t be afraid of taking risks, and if you ever feel trapped and can’t see the way forward, don’t give it all up due to fear. I have experienced first- hand that us professional women have an inner fortitude to overcome any obstacle we encounter. The idea is to not be afraid of switching gears and try something new. Being in an unhappy job is far worse than taking the risk and going for a change, so take your chance and make the most of it!
