Throw Some Light On The Current State Of The Ip Law Advisory Industry In India.
India boasts of a robust IP Law regime that only awaits optimum utilization. With an appropriate balance between the interests of a plethora of innovators that India is the birthplace of, and wider public interest this system can lead to a thriving environment for innovation and creativity. The Department Related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce has very rightly noted in its 161st Report (2021) ‘Review of the Intellectual Property Rights Regime in India’, “India, being the largest democracy in the world, aspires to safeguard the public interest in the face of industrial and technological growth. It is, therefore, imperative for India to maintain a fine balance between private rights through IPRs on one hand and rights of the society as public interest on the other hand.”
In this light, our role in advisory capacity becomes extremely significant as we can impart the knowledge we have in the field, helping our innovators and the general public along the way. The balance that we need between the two can only be achieved by the collective effort of experts in the field.
How Is Intellect Juris Poised In The Said Market? In Your Opinion What Sets The Company Apart From Its Contemporaries In The Industry?
The core of the Intellect Juris’ practice is Intellectual Property Laws and Rights. However, we do regularly foray into the arena of laws for start-ups and company laws. Our sectoral expertise extends to aviation, banking & financial institutions, e-commerce & retail, healthcare, IT, NBFCs and telecommunications, to name a few. In this context, I must also mention how much pride I take in the Associates of the firm being ever willing to learn, a little bit more each day. They are the cogwheels of the firm and the shoulders on which it rests. Each of them is exceptionally good at their job
and I make sure that they know the same. I cannot help but highlight that how despite that, they have the urge to handle every case as a learning experience rather than a mere legal exchange with a client. Above all, each of them is capable of leading a team and working as a part of one, and that enables Intellect Juris to adapt to a task at hand with immediate effect. They are serving the legal fraternity to the best of their abilities each day, and better the next! Our constant efforts to not limit ourselves and go beyond the usual for our clients is, in my opinion, our speciality.
How Has Your Professional Growth Journey Been So Far? How Do Keep Yourself Well Aligned With Industry Related Evolutions And Changes?
Having served a wide range of clientele, our takeaway has always been to make sure that they trust us with good reason. I believe that has so far, and shall hopefully continue to be the ideals of the firm. Growth and success are extremely subjective opinions to a great extent, but I am quite satisfied with where we are today.
“One of our recently adopted missions is to revolutionize trademark practice by providing a robust combination of technology and legal acumen”
Partnering with Universities (both public and private) has enabled us to monitor, assess, and encourage the new generation of advocates that enter the legal fraternity every year. We even try to constantly touch base with graduates and professionals from other fields like science and engineering, who are just as integral to particularly the IP law system around the world. That also helps us be in tune and updated with the changing dynamics of the field of law, especially the growing field that intellectual property law is. The changing frame of education we believe is the best way to assess the overall change in the requirements of the legal fraternity of the nation.
What Is The Roadmap Ahead For Your Professional Journey? Are You Looking To Focus On Any Specific Areas Or Niche Capabilities In The Days To Come?
Our aims have always been excelling at what we have at present and furthering it to our long-term goals; that is how it is for the firm is very much in line with the vision that I have had of my career. There indeed is nothing like the present, focusing on which would be fruitful; consistency with the work that we do is thus, the primary goal. We shall continue to identify newer opportunities, sweep them up and once again, work on them to the best of our abilities.
One of our recently adopted missions is to revolutionize trademark practice by providing a robust combination of technology and legal acumen, as the trademark is the only intangible asset that provides perpetual monopolistic rights that are transferrable and can be passed on to coming generations as a legacy.
What Would Your Advice Be To Young Women Who Aspire To Foray Into The Field Of Law?
The first and foremost advice would be to go ahead and believe in the idea that they can do law, and that they can excel. They must first believe that they are worth the attention, the effort and the investment before anyone else may be led to believe the same. After that, it’s all about the amount of hard work that they are willing to put in. Unfortunately, they compete with societal constraints that their male counterparts may not have to and that adds to the burden, but our women can and always have risen above people’s expectations of them.
