What Are The Important Features Of Your Expertise You Want To Highlight Through This Article?

I am one of the handful gynaecologists in the world who specialize in dealing with a disease called Endometriosis. I lead a multi-disciplinary team for endometriosis management, andhave been vetted by I care better for endometriosis surgeries. I believe, if a diagnosis is delayed for seven to ten years, patients can end up having multiple or incomplete surgeries and the complications of this are dreadful. Endometriosis can be managed if detected early by minimally invasive surgery and excision surgery in which I hold specialty.

I completed my graduation and post-graduation from R G Kar Medical College, Kolkata which happens to be the regional institute of Gynaecology and Obstetrics. It was a boon for me to be guided by the pioneers of minimally invasive gynaecology- Dr. Rakesh Sinha, Dr.RavezBotchorishvili, Dr. Gerard Mage. Healthcare as a field always caught my interest as I always wished to help society at large, and I chose endometriosis in particular. I have seen patients suffering for years and there is nobody to listen to them, they are just told unrealistic and impractical advice from society but instead, they need proper healthcare and guidance. The surgery for endometriosis is highly complex as it involves ovaries, bladder, bowel, and other pelvic sites, however, pioneer in me,took up the challenge and I chose excision surgery as my forte.

I am a minimally invasive surgeon in gynaecology and I hold a specialty in laparoscopic and robotic surgeries. My areas of interest are excision surgeries for endometriosis, fertility-enhancing minimally invasive surgeries. Along with my team of excision specialists, we provide our patients the best healthcare by dealing with endometriosis anywhere or on any organ of the body.

What Are The Challenges You Face In Your Profession And How Do You Overcome That?

Being an endometriosis surgeon is very challenging. Sometimes, consultation can last for an hour and complex surgeries can stretch for longer hours altogether. We can tackle any challenge with ease as we have a perfect blend of competence, managerial skills, a supportive family, and a cooperative team and these things have helped me balance my professional and personal life.

What Have Been The Most Significant Milestone That You Have Achieved So Far? How Do You Keep Yourself Updated With The Latest Developments In Your Field Of Work?

The biggest milestone I have achieved is being recognized as an endometriosis surgeon at a global level. We are treating patients from various parts of the world (USA, Canada, UAE, Dubai, Kenya, Maldives, Mauritius, Bangladesh, Somalia, South Sudan etc.) and patients travel from different states of India to us for endometriosis traetemnet. As a medical practitioner, my guiding leadership philosophy is to be transparent, follow ethics, and involve patients in decision making which helps build trust and long-term relations. Science is evolving every day and to achieve excellence in medicine, one needs to stay in tune with the latest developments for that I attend scientific meetings at the national and international level backing up with writing and presenting scientific content.
