Take us through your early educational journey and prior industry experience.
I'm an environmental engineering graduate from Nanyang Technological University, where I first became involved in workplace wellness. Later, I gained experience in crisis management as part of a research team studying earthquakes in Japan. This gave me valuable insights into workplace safety. Afterwards, I transitioned into business development as an executive assistant at M and L Hospitality Group. Through hosting international meetings, I built a global network of investors and bankers, which gave me a broader perspective on business. I also taught for a short period, adding to my range of job experiences. All of these experiences inspired me to launch a global wellness, lifestyle, and healthcare platform that promotes a holistic approach to wellness for individuals and businesses.
What motivated you to co-found Merandi Global Consulting? Tell us about the underlying idea behind the venture and its key areas of specialization.
As a freelance digital marketer, I found my niche in wellness during COVID lockdown. My personal passion and experience with preventive care led to founding Great Well Marketing Consultancy. With my mentor's help, I created a one-stop wellness and healthcare marketplace, inspired by Dr. Jackie Taylor's "Profit for Purpose" event. In addition, I'm also a co-founder in three other subsidiary companies, working alongside my mentor to bring our vision to life.
"My Goal Is To Help More People Through My Wellness Marketing, Including Charitable Organizations"
I aim to help more people through my wellness marketing, including charitable organizations. I believe technology is key to scaling my business and providing free marketing services to those in need, helping them reach more leads, raise funds, and build credibility. Through this mission, I hope to make a positive impact on the world.
What are some of the most critical challenges you encounter as a marketing leader in Asia? What steps do you undertake to overcome these roadblocks?
The pandemic has saturated the wellness industry, so standing out is vital. Local Care X is my wellness legacy, connecting global resources with local practitioners to meet community healthcare needs. Our focus is building meaningful value exchange communities where visitors access expert advice, relevant products, services, and virtual/physical expos. With a skilled wellness marketer as our deputy business development director, we curate and moderate these communities, increasing brand awareness and growth for organizations on our platform. Each provider contributes to society's well-being, and this is their wellness legacy.
How do you foresee the marketing landscape evolving going forward?
To succeed in the ever-changing Asian market, it's important to stay on top of new trends and opportunities. I recently participated in the Foreign Investment Economic Forum hosted by the Vietnam Prime Minister and delegation team, which highlighted the growth and potential of the Vietnamese and wider Asian market. At Great Well, we recognize the potential of the Vietnamese market as a growing trend and the importance of strategic partnerships to succeed in this dynamic market. With our presence established in several Asian countries, we are committed to being a key player in the global market assessment of numerous wellness brands, products, and services. As the chairperson of APEC for the Global Council for the Promotion of International Trade, we offer our clients direct market access to Asian countries and beyond through our extensive global network of leaders, local agents, and government officials. We are committed to helping our clients succeed and offer discounted costs to make it happen.
What are the top three milestones you have achieved throughout your professional journey? What has been your Mantra for success?
As an environmental engineer, I saved the life of a teammate, which sparked a desire to make a difference beyond construction sites. With a passion for wellness, I aim to create change agents who can spread the message in their communities. As a business owner with strong network partners, I work with others who share my vision to make meaningful change. Building a community of wellness change agents who are willing to take action is key to creating real change. I am committed to creating a world where wellness is accessible to everyone, regardless of background or financial situation.
