Aarti Br Singh: Working To Destigmatize Mental Health Issues

Aarti Br Singh
Founder & CEO, SHAREYRHEART

In Indian society, mental health is still a taboo subject. Because of the stigma attached to talking about mental health, it can be difficult for someone who is suffering from these problems to get help. “People don't realize that being mentally ill causes their entire physical body to be unhealthy,” says Aarti Br Singh, an entrepreneur and mental health advocate.

Aarti founded ShareYrHeart to make the process of seeking help easier. It is not only a psychological counseling platform, but also an online directory of Mental Health Professionals such as Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Psychotherapists, and Psychotherapy Centers, with its headquarters in Kolkata. ShareYrHeart.Com is a one-stop-shop for both visitors and clients, as well as professionals.

Aarti, the CEO, saw the necessity to establish a gateway that assists everyone in need of knowledge in the most convenient and comfortable manner possible, emphasising the need of maintaining one's mental health while still staying in shape.

The Women Entrepreneur Magazine team met down with Aarti to learn more about her story and how ShareYrHeart guarantees that people in need receive the assistance they require. Here are some of the highlights from our conversation with Aarti Br Singh.

Take us through your life journey? What prompted you to establish ShareYrHeart?

As you know, `Necessity is the Mother of Invention'. During my sixth semester of engineering school, I married. Despite my desire to continue my study after marriage, I was forced to quit school and become a stay-at-home mom. I had two children and focused all of my efforts on their upbringing and education.

My spouse and I founded a construction company in 2009, and I worked there for roughly 8-9 years. However, I frequently felt as if I was not making enough progress in my life. I took a correspondence degree course in Psychology and received a degree from Annamalai University, as well as psychoanalysis from the Indian Psychoanalytical Society in Kolkata because attending a conventional institution was not an option for me. Something severe happened in my life in August 2017, forcing me to leave the health clinic I was running at the time, as well as my husband's construction company. I was going through an emotional crisis and wanted to talk to my friends and family about it. However, I received criticism and counsel that did not satisfy me in any case. 'Let things be, women have to accommodate for the family and children,' I was told. I was a little hesitant this time about being understanding and forsaking the things I had always wanted to do. This is when I learned that in a crisis, I couldn't rely only on friends and family. The most basic requirement is for someone to listen to you without passing judgement and to fully comprehend your situation.

Understanding why people suffer, how they develop, and how to help them live more fulfilling and pleasurable lives is a fascinating, massive, and crucial project... and the reason for the existence of ShareYrHeart.

My crisis and my understanding of psychology eventually led me to establish ShareYrHeart that allows everyone to share what is in their heart.

Introduce us to ShareYrHeart? What are the various functions and capabilities of the portal?

Mental health difficulties, in my opinion, are exactly like any other physical problem that must be addressed. This is something I want to instil in people's brains. I also consider myself to be a philanthropist in some way. I have a strong desire to help others, and this desire prompted me to start ShareYrHeart.

People can use the site to get support for any mental health issue they are having. It has everything a person would need to educate themselves and ask for assistance if they require it. Psychologists, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, and psychotherapy centres can all be found in ShareYrHeart, an online directory of mental health specialists.

The portal has multiple elements, including psychometric tests to measure people's overall mental health, ways to use the results to seek help, and the opportunity to reach out to professionals for aid with treatment plans specific to their needs, among other things. The portal also functions as a resource centre for global research and news.

The list of psychiatric disorders and the psychotherapy required to treat them is one of the most essential areas of the ShareYrHeart platforms. This list has been created with professionals and their diagnostic needs in mind. We also have a dictionary section with over a thousand mental health-related terminology.

The symposia platform is a feature of the website where you may book online or offline sessions for conferences or workshops. We also offer certification programmes created by industry leaders and premier universities to help you develop and improve key professional skills.

“Umra lambi na ho bhale  safar yadgaar ho,saath chalne ko har shakhs bekarar ho, teri haqeeqat gairon ki misaal ho,rukhsati ke baad bhi dilon mein tu hi beshumar ho”

You Share, in ShareYrHeart, is an open platform where customers may share their issues and receive responses from the prominent pros on staff.

In addition to all of this, we also produce the mental health journal ShareYrHeart.

How are you driving growth at ShareYrHeart? Tell us about some of the critical challenges that you face and how do you overcome them?

Because my main goal is to serve the people, I've focused solely on ShareYrHeart and lowered the number of personal patients I visit.I host open forums in which I usually reserve a café or banquet venue and encourage people to participate. My psychoanalytical approach to clients is to empower them to improve their lives by enhancing their self-relationships. Shame and guilt, I believe, are common hurdles to transformation. I admire their courage in facing their anxieties and starting the healing process by seeking out an analyst. I provide free forum signup. My goal throughout these activities is to raise awareness about how mental illness may affect our physical health as well. I want people to talk and open up.

Even today, the situation in India regarding mental health has not altered. 'Pagal, Mental Hai Kya' is still a term used by some. Making people communicate about their mental health issues is the most difficult task. Even yet, there are many stigmas associated with mental illness, and we have taken the challenge of reaching out to everyone who requires assistance with their mental health issues. We urge them to keep journals to encourage our readers to share their concerns with us.

While I am encountering obstacles, I am attempting to organise similar events on a larger scale and even bring them to our neighbouring countries.

How has your professional journey been so far? As a successful entrepreneur, what advice would anyone seeking to start something by themselves?

Working alongside my hubby was the start of my journey. That experience aided me in overcoming several professional obstacles. Every day was a new adventure for me, and those nine years of experience were invaluable.

I've spent the last four years working in the field of mental health and social work with senior residents, underprivileged women, and street girls.

Good parenting and education, in my opinion, are critical for every individual. It not only aids in earning a living, but it also aids in the giving and receiving of respect in society. Even if unfavourable life circumstances emerge, your knowledge can provide security by allowing you to be self-sufficient.

It is not enough to have lived; one must be determined to live for a purpose.

We must mature gracefully.
