Top Indian Women Leaders in Singapore - 2021

Women's participation in corporate leadership has seen a rise over the past few years. To boost the representation of women in senior leadership and executive positions, many companies have institutionalised practices and policies. Globally, in comparison to 75 per cent of men, approximately 50 per cent of working-age women are part of the labour force. An increase in women in key leadership positions has contributed to the diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace. Particularly in high-income countries, women have been filling managerial positions faster than men.

Singapore has seen a rise in Indian women professionals. Between 2005 and 2020, this proportion has doubled from 13 per cent to 26 per cent. The global trend in demand and supply for tech talent and the rapid growth of Singapore's digital economy are the key reasons for this boom. Due to digitalization in every sector, the need for tech talent has grown significantly. Apart from their tech skills, Indian nationals have the advantage of being able to speak English. This talent and skill are helping to boost the economy of Singapore. Between the ages of 40 to 44 years, the population of Indian Singaporeans stood at approximately 33.4 thousand people. 6.5 lakhs Indians are residing in Singapore as per the Ministry of External Affairs report.
