Top 10 Women Leaders in Oman - 2022
The Sultanate of Oman is going through the greatest phase of economic transformation in their history. According to the Vision 2040, attracting more FDI to the country by placing more business friendly policies and better infrastructure is the most difficult phase country is going through now. Oman tries to accelerate the pace of economic diversion in the country by identifying the true potential and hidden resources of the country. Five sectors, manufacturing, tourism, transport, logistics, mining and fisheries have been identified as the key sector catalysing the economic diversion in the country. The World Bank, IMF, IIF and others are looking with a bright outlook towards this economic diversion of the country. The e-transformation is further helping in the growth of economy.
The revenues from petroleum and gas products have lead the economic growth of Oman in the past 50 years. The revenues from the oil & gas allow the government to invest in diversification such as tourism, industrialization, supporting SME development, supporting entrepreneurship and developing infrastructural networks and accessibility. Oman has an economic freedom score of 56.6 making it 108th freest in the Economic Freedom index. The country is ranked eighth among 14 countries in the middle-east and Africa.
The economic freedom and inflation shows fluctuations over past few years. Besides last few years has been really remarkable in the business history of Oman, as many businesses emerged to grow stronger amidst the recession in the last few years, caused by fall in oil prices and pandemic spread. There were many young strong women who have actively taken up the management role and have worked for the development and growth of the organisations, rolling out new ideas for business and marketing and remaining in touch with people, gaining the public confidence.
