Last few decades witnessed women making huge impact on the financial sector of the country. This can be traced from the number of women bankers, financers and investors who have made it to the top of their field and holding some of the powerful positions. A study titled `Women Participation in Indian Banking Sector: Issues and Challenges', published in the International Journal of Science and Research, says that during the initial years, when women were just beginning to become financially independent, attractive salaries, secured family life, favourable working conditions and stability at work made banking sector a prime job provider for women.

Over time, this concept changed. Today, women are attracted to jobs in banking and financial sector seeing a number of women role models who have achieved some of the highest ranks in this sector. 1990s and 2000s witnessed this transition of women rising to the top echelons of the financial sector, instead of joining at the clerical positions. Today, we can see a number of women in managerial positions. They are not going for easy jobs and safe timings. Instead, they are eager to take risks and prove themselves. Today's women like to break the boundaries of comfort zones to explore the wide world ahead.

According to the reports of Deloitte, the proportion of women in leadership roles within financial services firms has modestly risen from 22-24 percent. However, it is projected to grow to 28 percent by 2030. Women in senior leadership roles and C-suite positions constitute about nine percent currently, but it is expected to reach 14 percent by 2030.
