Top 10 Women Leaders From Kenya - 2022

Girls and women in Kenya hold unlimited potential. The history of the evolution of the traits of women in Kenya can be divided into Women within Swahili culture, Women in British Kenya, and Kenyan Women post- Independence. The condition and status of the female population in Kenya has faced many changes over the past century. For years now, Africa has made considerable strides in ensuring that women are better represented at senior levels, be it in business or government. Statistics show that the continent equals - or even beats - the rest of the world. But there is much that is yet to be done to ensure that women get their share of senior roles, that the barriers they face at the workplace are understood and that the leadership roles they occupy empowers the cause of equality and diversity in the workplace. Women journalists frustrated by the lack of opportunities to take on leadership roles in traditional legacy media organizations in Kenya have been setting up their own digital start-ups. A number are amongst the twelve women chosen to take part in the first programme and recruitment hasn’t been confined the Nairobi and its environs, they include women from Kakuma in Turkana County, Kisumu and Nakuru. The National Gender and Equality Commission said Kenyans elected 30 female MPs, up from 23 in 2017, seven female governors, up from three in 2017, and three female senators.
