Last few decades have seen many women rising to become influential thought leaders and trailblazers. But this is only a tip of the ice berg. Women have to go a long way to be equal to their male counterparts in representation in various fields. A 'Digital Skills Gap' Report released by the Digital Marketing Institute revealed that women were 11 percent more digitally proficient than men, but comprise only represent 30 percent of the entire digital marketing workforce. But hopefully, the number of women entering in leadership marketing roles is on the rise and is at an all time high point. Today, about 30 percent of women hold leadership or senior positions within the marketing world. Female CEOs account for four percent of Fortune 500 companies and 19 percent of senior management positions being held by women. The number is not very big, but considerable amount of time and energy was spent to reach this statistics.

According to pay scale women earns only 76 cents for every dollar earned by her male counterpart. Even with the odds stacked against them, numerous strong and empowered women have made huge strides in digital marketing. There are many challenges women have to face such as representation, access to senior roles, and closing the gender pay gap. Overcoming all this significant progress is made by women in digital marketing sector in India, inspiring millions of other women in the country.

About 80 percent of the purchase decision are made by women; hence it is more likely for them to know the pulse of the consumers. Creative and active women could do wonders in this sector. According to the LinkedIn data analysis, agencies that incorporate women into main workforce get 30 percent higher return.
