Women have respectable position in our society today and they are involved in all works which were once considered as men's domain. 25 percentage of women in India are working in multinational companies. About 54 percent of female population in India is employed. However the problem faced by young women today is breaking the glassceiling. Despite all the talks of gender diversity and affirmative action, corporate India has failed to bring more women into leadership positions. Out of every 100 CEOs and managing directors of companies listed on the National Stock Exchange, only about three are women and this has remained almost stagnant since 2014.

According to the fortune 500 list published in March 2020, only 29 Indian companies had women at senior management and executive level. Only around 3.8 percent of women are CEOs or managing Director of the listed companies in India, out of which only eight percent were found to be in the top managerial positions in India.

Chief Operating Officer (COO) of a company is second in command. COO is tasked with implementing daily operations aligned with that goal and the company's strategies. They complement the strength and weakness on CEO to work together and to bring out the best leadership for the company. COO must a skilled communicator, effective leader and driven business person who can spur company growth and maintain key operational procedures. Today, the COO positions are increasingly filled by women.
