Top 10 Indian Women Leaders from Asia - 2022

According to a new research from Macquarie Business School, women are superior leaders, and companies run by women seem to outperform those with men at the top. These findings are exploding many myths still prevalent in the business world. The research was conducted by Dr. Farida Akhtar, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Actuarial Studies & Business Analytics, and her studies were published in peer review finance journals and are listed in the Australian Business Deans Council Journal Quality List. Women are able to nurture their employees more, create better reward systems and have greater flexibility.

Many companies today are looking for increasing female representation in their organizations. A more diverse boardroom could lead to a more creative and problem solving environment, as gender inclusion could lead to more divergent thinking. The seventh edition of Deloitte Global's Women in the boardroom report revealed that women hold 17.1 percent of the board seats in India. Globally, 19.7 percent of the board seats are held by women, an increase of 2.8 percent since 2018 compared with 1.9 percent over 2016-2018. At this pace, the world could expect to reach near-parity only in 2045. Although India saw a decline in board chairs held by women in 2021, it witnessed an increase in the number of women taking-up CEO roles - 4.7 percent female CEOs against 3.4 percent, reported in 2018.
