Abhijita Gupta, a fourth-grade student, has accomplished something that many adults hope to accomplish “someday”. On October 9, the girl, who became a published author at the age of seven, released her third book, To Begin with the Little Things. In addition, the girl won a royalty of INR 3 lakh for her previous works.
Happiness All Around and We Will Surely Sustain, her first two books, were launched in November of last year and February of this year, respectively. All three books are compilations of short stories and poems published by Invincible Publishers.
With more than 9,700 copies of her previous two books sold across platforms, she and her mother are eager to see how her third book is accepted by the public.
Abhijita has been awarded the accolades of ‘World's Youngest Author’ by the International Book of Records and ‘Grandmaster in Writing’ by the Asia Book of Records. She is the youngest author to create poetry and prose, according to the India Book of Records.
Abhijita, a Ghaziabad-based young writer who started writing at the age of five, says, “The book has moral stories revolving around issues like why we should value our privileges among other subjects. If we follow these little key points, then we can end up being successful and a good human being, who helps in others’ wellbeing".
The girl, who completed the book in four months, claims that her surroundings inspire her to write.
She underlines, “What I see, what I hear, and what I feel is what I write about. Since we were in the second lockdown and there was so much sadness in the world, I thought I could motivate people by writing this book and rid them of negativity”.
“Teachers are Guiding Light”, Abhijata's favourite story from her new book, emphasises on the importance of a teacher's presence in a child's life.
Anupriya says Abhijita's knowledge of issues beyond her age occasionally astounds her and her husband.
She said, “we wonder how she thinks of all these things and weaves stories around them. But Abhijita has always been a child of logic who says things as they are. We feel that there is an element of mystery around how she says such logical and wise things”.
Abhijita says, “I want to be a successful doctor when I grow up so I can serve the nation and mankind just like my grandfather who is also a doctor and doesn’t charge a penny from financially underprivileged people".
She does, however, wish to "keep writing as a hobby."
