The Women in Wind Global Leadership Program will be introduced this year by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) and the Global Women's Network for the Energy Transition (GWNET). With at least 23 participants, from 13 different nations, this year's program will be the biggest yet.
The initiative began in 2019 with an initial group of eight mentees, and this year it will welcome nearly four times as many women who are employed in significant emerging wind energy markets worldwide.
The Global Women's Network for the Energy Transition (GWNET) and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) collaboratively host the initiative, which is now in its fifth year. The aim of the program is to help women in the wind industry improve their careers by empowering them, fostering knowledge sharing and a global network of professionals.
She is beyond thrilled that this year's Women in Wind Global Leadership Program will have the largest intake yet," said Jeanette Gitobu, GWEC Director of Women in Wind.
For this year's Women in Wind program, over 140 applications were received, according to Christine Lins, Executive Director and Founding Member of GWNET. The Women in Wind project is crucial for addressing the problem of gender inequality in the wind energy sector and supporting the next generation of industry leaders.
