Women Entrepreneurs Showcase Sikkim's Cultural Heritage at Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav 2024

Under the leadership of President Usha Theengh Lama, the Sikkim State Women’s Entrepreneurial Forum (SWEF) celebrated Sikkim's rich cultural heritage and handloom. This showcase took place during the Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav 2024, held from September 27 to October 6. A delegation of 26 members represented Sikkim State Women’s Entrepreneurial Forum, emphasizing the state's unique contributions to the handloom and handicraft sectors.

North Eastern Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation Ltd. (NEHHDC) organized the festival. The festival saw the gathering of artisans and entrepreneurs from across the region. The aim of the festival was to foster collaboration and promote traditional arts in today’s modern world. Handlooms and handicrafts have been an important part of regional heritage across various Indian regions. The NEHHDC led festival also served as a crucial platform for networking and cultural exchange for all participants.

A diverse collection of traditional crafts was presented by participants from Sikkim State Women’s Entrepreneurial Forum. The products present at the festival vividly highlighting Sikkim’s rich artistic heritage. The Mahotsav saw the forum's engagement not only celebrating local craftsmanship but also strengthening ties among artisans. This collaboration will pave the way for future collaborative initiatives to uplift the state's handloom and handicraft industries.
