Women Empowerment & Sustainable Development Focused 108th ISC to be inaugurated by PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to inaugurate and view the entire inaugural session of the 108th Indian Science Congress through video conferencing on January 3. The theme of this year’s ISC event is “Science and Technology for Sustainable Development with Women Empowerment.” Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) is hosting the event at its Amravati Road Campus.
The inaugural session will also see attendance from Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of Maharashtra Public Universities, Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari. He will be joined by other dignitaries includingShri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister &Chairman of the Advisory Committee of RTMNU Centenary Celebrations, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology & Earth Sciences, Shri Eknath Shinde, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra,.
Other prominent presence will be of Dr. Subhash R. Chaudhari, Vice Chancellor of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, and Dr. (Mrs.) Vijay Laxmi Saxena, General President of Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), Kolkata.
The Indian Science Congress will have 14 technical sessionswhich will be conducted at different venues in the university’s Mahatma Jotiba Phule Educational Campus.
ISC will also have a Women’s Science Congress, a Farmers’ Science Congress, a Children’s Science Congress, a Tribal Meet, a section on Science and Society and a Science Communicators’ Congress.
Sessions at ISC will feature Nobel Laureates, Indian & foreign researchers, experts and technocrats from various fields such as defense, IT and medical research.
The event will also feature a mega expo “Pride of India”. The achievements of the Indian Science and Technology sector will be highlighted at the exhibition. Pride of India will display the strengths and achievements accomplished by Indian Government, Corporate, PSUs, Academic and R&D Institutes, Innovators & Entrepreneurs.
The Vigyan Jyot programme, a tradition of the Indian Science Congress was held in a run up to the event today.
