Women Developers Emerge as Winners in Nimbella's Virtual Hackathon- #DeveloperIPL

A serverless cloud computing platform, Nimbella in association with Postman (API development platform) and HackerEarth (AI-powered accurate developer assessment platform) has announced the winners of its #DeveloperIPL Game -  a national virtual hackathon its main goal is to develop a solution for social good.

The hackathon #DeveloperIPL challenge has been accepted by 1,448 developers across India, France, and Russia, this has been launched by Nimbella and Postman’s collaboration and the contestants competed against one another for the title ‘Coding Master Blaster’.

Anshu Agarwal, CEO and Co-Founder of Nimbella, states, "Being a woman in tech, it is absolutely an honor to award this coveted first prize to an all-women team. It is impressive to see how easily these cloud-native applications were built in just a few weeks -- this is true development at the pace of innovation!"

A team of two talented young women developers, Shreya Sinha and Vaishnavi Sinha has won the Championship Cup. It is been noted that both the players are huge cricket fans are were excited to receive a T-shirt personally signed by Sachin Tendulkar.

Numerous projects were submitted for judging with varied ideas that are contribute to the social good these projects include Secure Communication, Blockchain Lending, E-Commerce VR, Ed Tech, COVID Awareness, Emotional Support, Community Building, Food Tracking, "Fake News", Patient/Doctor Interactions, Charity & Oversight, Rural Connectivity, and Natural Disaster Response. All the above projects were developed as cloud-naïve projects in this short period using the serverless framework provided by Nimbella.

The winners are Shreya Sinha and Vaishnavi Sinha for 'Coding Master Blasters', they had developed a messenger bot named ‘Zebra’. This bot would give accurate information and help people to spot the fake news.

Satya Ram and Sai Teja Adda emerged as the first runner up where Satya had developed a COVID tracker tool as a web app that could combat COVID-19 misinformation and offer correct information. Finally, Vaibhav Kurkute, Rimi Gandhi, and Rahul Saptarshi stood as the second runner up. They created a food tracker app that would aid in ensuring the quality of the food provided to everyone who needs it.

The hackathon organizers have noticed that more than 30 percent of participants were women in a cricket-themed contest highlighting the diversity that is there today. Following this hackathon, all the participants are intending to continue working on their projects.
