West Indies slam Bangladesh with 8-Wicket Win; Group B Table Toppers

The race to the semi-finals started in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024, as the teams were fighting to secure top positions in the points table. The match 13 of the tournament was secured by West Indies Women (WI-W) against Bangladesh Women (BAN-W) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. West Indies chased the total in just 12.5 overs bouncing back in the tournament after defeats. WI-W secured an 8-wicket win over BAN-W chasing a target of 104 runs. Karishma Ramharack secured the 'Player of the Match' title securing highest 4 wickets.
During the 1st innings, West Indies captain Hayley won the toss and opted to bowl against Bangladesh putting in a tough fight with the pacers, where Karishma Ramharack grabbed highest 4 wickets off 17 runs with an economy of 4.25. Additionally, Hayley Matthews took 1 wicket and Afy Fletcher secured 2 wickets for Bangladesh women. BAN-W kicked off a strong start and smashed 52 runs by powerplay losing 2 wickets. Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana took the game forward with her batting skills but was caught by Aaliyah Alleyne securing 39 off 44.
The victorious 2nd innings started with the partnership of captain Hayley (34 off 22) and Stafanie Taylor (27 off 29). The duo was later cleaned up but power-pact players Shemaine Cambelle and Deandra Dottin finished the game with their skillset. Shemaine scored 21 off 16 hitting 2 boundaries, whereas Deandra Dottin smashed 19 off 7 with 1 four and 2 sixes with a strike rate of 271.43. With this win, West Indies has secured the top position in Group B with an NRR of +1.708.
