Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annpurna Devi, addressed the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the UN Headquarters in New York. She highlighted India's progress in gender equality and the transformative impact of flagship government schemes on women and children's health, nutrition, education, and economic opportunities. She emphasized the importance of ensuring access to women's rights and entitlements.
With a focus on the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and its impact on gender equality and women's empowerment, the WCD Minister discussed India's statement at the Ministerial Forum. She further emphasized the Indian government's commitment to women and children's empowerment, highlighting progress in gender equality and 12 critical areas of concern, and the transformative impact of flagship schemes improving health, education, financial stability for women and children.
The Minister emphasized the government's commitment to empowering women and girls through a multi-pronged approach, aiming for a safe, supportive environment for all children. She mentioned on X, "Today I feel proud to represent India at @UN Headquarters and to celebrate the power of women and their progress in the country.
