Women 20 (W20) Indonesia has expressed the expectation that India will follow the four primary topics relating to women's empowerment that were pursued during India's G20 Presidency next year.
Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Bintang Puspayoga stated in a W20 Post-Summit announcement that "these problems cover opposing discrimination and fostering gender equality, women-owned MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises).
They also cover rural women, women with disabilities, and the gender equality-focused health response issue.
In order to promote the adoption of G20 commitments pertaining to women's problems, one of the engagement groups under Indonesia's G20 Presidency is the W20.
G20 is a global cooperation organisation made up of the European Union and 19 other nations (EU). The G20 Summit will be held in Bali on November 15 and 16, 2022. Indonesia is currently holding the group's leadership.
According to Puspayoga, the W20 has prioritised creating equality, security, and prosperity by abolishing discriminatory practises in order to address the first and second objectives.
Additionally, it has described how to help women-owned MSMEs in order to attain economic inclusion and emphasised the significance of embracing intersectionality to hasten women's empowerment.
W20 Indonesia has focused on health responses for marginal women, particularly those who live in rural and have impairments, for the third and fourth concerns.
W20 Indonesia has demonstrated how the COVID-19 pandemic's worldwide concerns disproportionately affect women in relation to these issues.
Minister Puspayoga said that the pandemic has had a substantial impact on women's health, families, and assistance for women who have experienced gender-based violence.
The W20 has also promoted health interventions focused on gender equity.
The engagement group's final gathering in Indonesia was the W20 Post Summit, which took place on November 13–14 in Nusa Dua, Bali.
Along with Indonesia's G20 Presidency, it signalled the end of W20 Indonesia this year.
Next year, India will preside over both the G20 and the W20.
