According to Uttarakhand's chief minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, coordinated efforts for women's safety and empowerment should be made in a way that sends a message from the state to the entire nation. He instructed the officers to put a special emphasis on women's empowerment and safety in the State. These instructions were given by Dhami on Friday while she presided over a meeting at the State Secretariat on worker safety and empowerment. He advised that all departments coordinate their efforts to make sure that plenty of women participate in self-employment and employment ventures.
According to the CM, departments should develop a sound operating strategy to ensure the safety of female employees. He recommended strengthening the police support desk and the 112 emergency line. According to the law, women are entitled to maternity leave, and the CM argued that it is important to make sure that every working woman receives this benefit. He ordered the creation of a help desk for women in every institution and the creation of a system for the registration of working women in a given area. For these purposes, the police, labour, and the relevant department should collaborate.
According to Dhami, the committee established to stop sexual harassment of women at work should meet regularly, and everyone should be aware of the Sexual Harassment Electronic (SHE) box that is located at workplaces. The CM urged all government departments to collaborate and advised them to focus on strengthening their workplace cultures. He continued by saying that the State needs to make strong measures to stop child labour.
Senthil Abudai Krishnraj S, the deputy inspector general of police, presented the idea for the one-stop solution app at the meeting. At the time of their appointments, working women in both organised and unorganised sectors would be able to complete their registrations via the app.
He stated that female workers in factories and industries as well as their employers would be urged to register with the one-stop solution app.
ADG law and order V Murugeshan, assistant chief secretary Radha Raturi, DG of police Ashok Kumar, secretaries R Meenakshi Sundaram, H C Semwal, Deependra Chaudhary, IG Vimala Gunjyal, and others were present at the meeting.
