Uttar Pradesh has 6,812 Women-led Startups: DPIIT Report

Uttar Pradesh's Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) reports that over 50 per cent of startups are led by women, with 6,812 being women-led, or 51 per cent in UP. This reflects the state's inclusive policies and efforts to empower women in leadership roles. These startups have collectively created more than 100,000 jobs in the state. The state aims to become a $1 trillion economy within 4-5 years, with plans to develop India's first artificial intelligence city and establish 100 incubators across 75 districts.

An official mentioned, "More than 50 per cent of the startups in UP have at least one woman director, which indicates an amenable 'doing business' environment and active support to new enterprises." The Yogi Adityanath government is revamping existing policies to create a $ 1 trillion economy in the next 5 years, establishing incubators and the single-window clearance system Nivesh Mitra which has made it easier for entrepreneurs to start and run businesses. The state's vision to establish India's first AI city in Lucknow will also shape the economic future of UP.

India's startup ecosystem is expanding, with over 130,000 recognized startups, with Uttar Pradesh setting a strong example, Policy support, inclusivity, and focus on emerging technologies are key for success. India has 108 unicorns with valuations of $340 billion, with 44 unicorns founded in 2021 and 21 founded in 2022.
